What I am building
TVLens, a TV show recommendation platform in the spirit ofMovieLens. You rate what you have watched, and it learns your taste well enough to point you at something worth your evening.
The interesting part is the recommender, the piece that actually decides what to put in front of you. Most services recommend what is popular, or whatever will keep you watching longest. I am more interested in how shows connect through the people who make them, the crews that move from one project to the next, and the lineage that runs between them.
I am building it in the open, one post a day, atthe 80-Day Project, alongsidethe decisions behind it.
Timeline
- 1991: lived in Washington, D.C.
- 1998: started playing soccer
- 2002: got a Dell Dimension 4500 computer and dove deep into the internet
- 2003: moved to Silver Spring, Maryland
- 2010: graduated high school and joined the United States Army
